This show garden was inspired by the edges of woodlands, one of nature’s richest environments. Its main feature is a handwoven wall made from branches of more than twenty shrub and tree species. Dry hedges at the base provide shelter for small animals and invertebrates. As the branches slowly decay, the organic matter acts as mulch, storing carbon, and mimicking the natural woodland cycle.
The hand-crafted scheme is rooted in ecology, offering clever take-home ideas for natural garden boundaries, homemade wildlife habitats, and the use of mulches to protect soil. Designed to deepen our connection with woodland spaces, this peaceful retreat highlights nature’s remarkable resources.
